Horse racing in April comes to Hereford Racecourse with an afternoon of jump racing on Thursday 15th April. The days are getting longer, the Herefordshire countryside is waking up and it's a good time to be out at the course.
Lean on the rail and you'll feel the thud of hooves before the runners flash past. Then comes the cheer as they head for the line. Hereford is a cosy, friendly course, so you're close enough to feel every stride.
It's an easy-going midweek crowd, so there's time to stroll down to the parade ring and pick a favourite before each race. Spring days can turn chilly, so bring a coat.
The Snaffles Restaurant has a three-course menu, reserved seating, table service and a racecard, with a view across the course. Bars and food outlets are open around the course too, with snacks, hearty meals and plenty to drink.
Book ahead to secure your place. There are no booking fees when you buy direct online or by phone. Children aged 17 and under go free with a paying adult, so it works well for a family day out.
