2012 promises to be an exciting year at Hereford with popular annual fixtures Ladies Day on Sunday 24 June and Beer & Cider Night on Wednesday 30 August. We also have some new calendar highlights such as Beaujolais Day on Thursday 22 November.

Hereford regularly achieves a large number of runners that often result in plenty of action with close finishes providing the racegoer with a thrilling spectacle. Top trainers and jockeys are often to be found with horses running at Hereford and it is no surprise that both Martin Pipe and Tony McCoy have been top trainer and jockey at the course many times in previous years.

A day at the races is as casual or as formal as you want to make it. For some it’s a get together with friends, for others it’s an excuse to dress up, especially on Ladies Day when many ladies get dressed up and wear hats – not obligatory, but great fun! Families are always welcome with accompanied children under 16 entering for free and free entertainment on certain days.

Hereford Racecourse is a right handed, virtually square shaped track, approximately a mile and a half in circumference. It stages 'National Hunt' racing throughout the year.

There are nine fences to a circuit, including two open ditches, with one fence in the short finishing straight. The hurdles course is to the outside of the Chase course, and is slightly more galloping as a result of this. There is a very short run in from the final flight to the winning line.
