WEATHER permitting we will be racing at Hereford Racecourse this Sunday. Following the abandonment of last Sunday's scheduled fixture due to snow and frost, it's a bonus meeting this weekend with those people arriving early getting an extra treat. The first 300 through the entrances will receive a voucher for a free pie and pint. This wintry weather is most frustrating, but fingers crossed the temperatures will rise a little this week and allow us to race on Sunday - which is an additional fixture. The feature race is the £10,000 betinternet.com Novices' Chase. The racecourse increased its average attendances in 2008, and we're now offering an extra weekend date when families and friends can enjoy an afternoon out at the races. As an added bonus on the 15th, many people will be able to enjoy free refreshments courtesy of the racecourse. The horses of Venetia Williams continue their superb form as excitement builds to next month's Cheltenham Festival. Despite the loss of so many fixtures, the Kings Caple yard still managed four winners in a single day last Friday - three of them at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse. Another followed at the weekend fixture at Kempton Park. The trainer was full of praise for her horsebox drivers who battled through the snow on Friday to reach the north Wales racecourse on a day when the weather defeated plenty of others. There is also a last minute meal deal this Sunday at Hereford Racecourse - a hot and spicy curry and rice meal in a hospitality suite, which boasts views across the racecourse. For £35, the offer includes admission, a raceday programme and the curry and rice buffet - with bookings being taken on 01432 273560. *It's a 2.10pm start on Sunday 15 February. Gates open at 12.10pm. Grandstand admission is £17. Accompanied children aged under 16 enter free of charge. For more information telephone the racecourse on 01432 273560.
