How do I find out if racing is abandoned?

The Hereford Racecourse website will have the most up to date information, together with our Facebook and Twitter accounts which will all be updated the morning of racing.


Is Hereford Racecourse suitable for children?

Children under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by an adult and are admitted free of charge. Children will not require a ticket, however proof of age may be required and those that are unable to provide this may be charged the full price of admission.

Will there be entertainment for the children at the racecourse?

There's always plenty of entertainment for children on our Family Fun Day, please see our fixtures page for dates. However there is no entertainment or play area for children other than on these selected dates.

Are dogs allowed?

With the exception of Guide Dogs of the Blind, dogs are not permitted to enter the racecourse. In the interests of animal welfare, no dogs are permitted to be left in cars and Hereford Racecourse politely request that all dogs are left at home.

Should I book tickets in advance?

To take advantage of our advance booking and group bookings discount it is advised to buy tickets in advance, to save money and benefit from incentives and offers. When per booked, tickets are sent out in the post approximately 2 weeks prior to the race day. To book call the racecourse office on 01432 273 560 or book online. However we do sell tickets on the gate on the day.

Can I have a stag/hen party at the racecourse?

A day at the races is perfect for a stag or hen party; all ages will enjoy the thrill of winning and a glass of champagne to celebrate! We have group discounts available for parties of 10 or more people, and for advance bookings. For that extra special treat, enjoy all inclusive hospitality in our Rusty Bridge Restaurant or a private box, and as a surprise for the stag/hen by having a race in their name. What is the dress code?

Our dress code is smart casual. This means we are happy to accept smart jeans and tailored shorts, however sports shirts, ripped jeans, casual shorts or trainers will not be permitted. A collar and tie is preferable for the Rusty Bridge Restaurant and private boxes. Racing at Hereford takes place during the Winter so we advise dressing appropriately for the weather.

Can I wear fancy dress?

Fancy dress is not permitted in the hospitality boxes or in the Rusty Bridge Restaurant. However an all other areas of the racecourse you are permitted to wear fancy dress.

Can I take photographs?

At all meetings we ask you to ensure that no flash photography takes place near the horses. Otherwise you are welcome to take photographs for personal non-commercial use only. Any photographer that is felt to be impeding or contravening these rights without accreditation and prior written consent will be requested to leave and escorted from the premises. You cannot take images for commercial purposes without prior permission from the racecourse office and provision of press accreditation. Note: Professional filming and photography takes place at Hereford for various publications and broadcasting. By purchasing an admission ticket you are accepting our terms and conditions of entry and race goers therefore (including families) consent to being filmed, photographed and otherwise recorded by Hereford Racecourse or any third party authorised by Hereford Racecourse. You grant Hereford Racecourse and any third party authorised by Hereford Racecourse the right to broadcast, publish, licence and use any photographs, film, recordings or images of you without payment or other compensation in any promotional literature produced by Hereford Racecourse. Full copies of our Terms & Conditions are available upon request.


Are there any disabled facilities?

Our racecourse enclosures cater for disabled customers and their carers (carers receive free admission). Priority forward parking is reserved for Blue Badge holders. There is suitable access around the site and Parade Ring for wheelchair users, together with access to the Rusty Bridge Restaurant and Kidwells Grandstand and Bar. We regret that there is currently no access to the private boxes for wheelchair users.

How many enclosures are at the Racecourse?

Hereford Racecourse operates as one enclosure on a raceday.

Do I have to pay for parking?

Car parking is provided free of charge at all race meetings. There is ample free parking at Hereford Racecourse, with two car parks available on racedays. Stewards will guide you into the car parks as you approach the racecourse.

Is there a cash machine at the racecourse?

Cash machines can be found in the Kidwell Grandstand Bar and entrance to Rusty Bridge Restaurant.


Can we bring our own alcohol?

Alcohol cannot be brought into the racecourse at any time. You will be asked to dispose of any alcohol before you are allowed entry to the racecourse. Alcohol and soft drinks will be widely available within the enclosures from bars and concessions.

Can I bring my own food/drink or picnics to the racecourse?

Picnics are allowed in the main car parks before, after or during racing. You cannot bring food and drink into the Grandstand enclosure.

Where can I buy food and drink?

The Rusty Bridge Restaurant offers a base for the day, and three-course meal. There may be some limited availability on a raceday. The Kidwells Grandstand Bar is a fully licensed bar also serving hot snacks, in addition to other concessions offering a variety of hot and cold drinks and snacks.


The allocation of badges for individual owners is 6 badges and for syndicates is 8 badges. The subsequent 10 badges are charged at £10 each, thereafter tickets are charged at full price.

We have the Chase Owners and Trainers bar exclusively for use by Owners and Trainers badge holders serving tea, coffee, hot food and a range of wines, beers and spirits. Upon collection of your Owners and Trainers badge you will receive a food voucher which can be redeemed in the Chase Owners & Trainers Bar.

For Owners of winning horses, you will receive a complimentary DVD and photograph of your winning horse, please ensure you leave your contact details in the Winning Connections Suite for the photograph to be posted out to you.


How many races do you have on each day?

At Hereford we usually have 6 or 7 races, sometimes increasing to 8 if a race divides due to the number of declared runners. Full details will be listed on the raceday page on the website.

Is it all Jump racing at Hereford?

We are a jumps track, with National Hunt Racing in the Winter months, from October through to March.

What is the smallest bet you can place?

£2 is the minimum bet with the tote.

Is it possible to place a bet in all of the enclosures?

There are places to bet in all enclosures, with Betfred, Totepool and independent bookmakers.

Where can I stay in Hereford?

The nearest hotel to the racecourse is the Premier Inn just off the A49. There are numerous hotels in and around Hereford with a range of budget and luxury accommodation.

How do I get to the racecourse?

If you are travelling by car and are using a sat nav please use the postcode HR4 9QU. The main approach road is the A49 from the North or the South, or if you are travelling from Worcester we can be reached from the A4103. If you are travelling by train Hereford Train Station is well connected to London, Birmingham, Manchester, Cardiff and other major cities. The Train Station is a 5 minute taxi ride to the racecourse.

Can I arrive earlier than the first race?

Gates open approximately 2 hours before the first race, you are welcome to join us from then, soak up the atmosphere, pick your winners and begin your fantastic day’s racing.
